Lets look at the story behind at-choo.com below.

Once upon a time, At-Choo’s story

Once upon a time, in a land where the summers smelled like tomatoes and caterpillars came out of their sleeping bags to become monarch butterflies, Elaine Seamans, the creator of At-Choo, sprouted.

Nature mystified her, animals gave her comfort and creating made her feel alive. But, alas, what to do for a living? Her dream was to do everything she loved. And so she did. Although in varying amounts and not all at the same time. She became an elf of the arts & crafts variety.

With a couple of degrees in design in hand, (focusing on clothing design), she realized she was committing emotional and psychological suicide by not following her own path and started At-Choo which was really just a continuation of her making things she felt passionate about and that held meaning for her.

She wishes more people were as lucky as her – to have met and had her priorities and heart transformed by a wee little Dachshund, Quackers. While one of her passions was always animals, there wasn’t a way for her to help them, that she could think of, without doing something in the sciences. With Quackers teaching her about intuition, the power of love, and what is really important in life, she took a risk after Quackers went to Heaven and put all she felt for her into At-Choo. Life became even more full and rewarding with people letting her know of special tender stories they and their pet had shared. And also, of tales of how her products had comforted them when their pet had been ill or had passed up to Heaven.

Elaine’s philosophy is that we are not “owners” of our pets, but are their guardians, their “human”. We have them in our lives to take care of them, to love them, and spoil them while we are lucky enough to have them share their lives with ours.

Depending on what “glasses” you wear, inspiration can be found in many areas. Elaine’s “glasses” hold for her inspiration in nature, past centuries, the thoughts of her new love and knucklehead, Quizzie, a rescued long haired Dachshund, fairy tales, mistakes, and basically anything that makes one smile and have their heart feel.

In case you are wondering, since a lot of people do, At-Choo was named at a time when Elaine was designing clothing. She wanted to name her company something that everyone says without really realizing it. The name, At-Choo, was chosen. As the company grew and transformed she thought about changing the name, but she was reminded of how many times the company gets blessed when it’s name is mentioned. She decided to keep the name.

Goal:

The pet/animal part of At-Choo is where the goal of At-Choo resides. It wouldn’t be here (both the goal and a lot of the items that you’ll see) if Elaine Seamans, the creator of At-Choo, hadn’t had the good fortune to fall endlessly in love with a little wiener dog named Quackers. She reconfirmed for Elaine the priority of love and also the value of listening to your intuition and your heart. Even though her home is now Heaven, both her impact and the impact of a puppy, Quizzie, she sent to Elaine who was found in the garbage at 5 weeks old, will always be a part of At-Choo. Our goal is to basically have people come out of the closet with how they feel about their pet.

It is to inspire people to openly express the passion and love they feel for their pets, as they would for any other member of their family. It is also to have people be able to find the strength and courage within themselves to give their pet the gift of being able to hold him or her when their time comes to leave their physical body, put on wings and a halo and go home to Heaven. It is a gift of love to someone who has given you so much in return. We don’t believe that we are “owners” of pets but, are their human, their guardian, to take care of them, to love them and spoil them while we are lucky enough to have them share their lives with ours.
